Centro Laudato Si

About Us

«The care of the ‘common home’ is a responsibility we take on towards our neighbor and at the same time a way to recognize the infinite beauty of God and contemplate the mystery of the universe. So that in each person the desire to contribute to fulfilling this duty may awaken, with the Encyclical ‘Laudato si” [LS] I recalled the example of Saint Francis, who showed particular respect for God’s creative work, considering it inseparable from the attention towards the least and the abandoned (cf. LS, 10).» (Chirograph of February 2, 2023)

With these words, Pope Francis establishes the Laudato Si’ Higher Educational Center, a scientific, educational, and social activity organization, which operates for the integral formation of the person in respect of the principles of the Encyclical ‘Laudato Si’.’ The Holy Father entrusts the Center with the task of realizing the Borgo Laudato Si’ project in the magnificent gardens of the Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo.

The Borgo

Thanks to the creation of the «Borgo Laudato si’» project, the beauty of the Pontifical Villas’ Gardens has become the natural setting for the development of a place, open to all people of good will, to be trained in integral ecology. By setting up Borgo Laudato Si’ in his residence at Castel Gandolfo, Pope Francis wanted to demonstrate that the principles described in the Encyclical «Laudato Si’» could become a reality. The project has been developed in three directions: integral ecology education, circular and generative economy, and environmental sustainability.
